台湾教育部招聘による宮田学長の台湾出張についてPresident Miyata’s visit to Taiwan

平成27年6月28日～7月1日の間、台湾教育部の招聘により宮田学長が台湾を訪問し、台湾教育部及び文化部、本学協定締結校や文化施設関係者との意見交換を行いました。
6月29日に訪問した国立台湾芸術大学、国立台北藝術大学及び文化部では、これまでの大学間、台湾・日本間の交流を振り返り、学生・教員の交流や、共同展覧会等を通じて、今後も相互の協力関係を強化していくことを確認しました。
また、宮田学長は、スーパーグローバル大学創成構想の下、本学が今後10年計画で世界の大学と交流を進めていく予定であること、2020年のオリンピックに向けて、日本の魅力のみならずアジアのすばらしさを世界に発信できるよう、共に取り組んでいきたいと述べました。

6月30日は、音楽学部の澤学部長も合流し、国立台南芸術大学の李肇修学長と面会するため、台南にある奇美博物館を訪問しました。同博物館は、奇美実業創設者の許文龍氏によって設立されたもので、通常は一日5000人までの入場制限があり、事前予約が必要になるそうですが、李学長の配慮により今回の同博物館訪問が実現しました。
最初に、ストラディヴァリウスを始めとする世界の貴重なヴァイオリンが多数収蔵されている部屋に案内され、博物館のご厚意で、澤学部長は世界的な銘器の中から任意のものを数種類選んで演奏する機会を得ました。
その後、奇美博物館創立者の許氏と宮田学長が会談し、許氏から、博物館設立の経緯等について説明がありました。会談の途中で、澤学部長が自身のヴァイオリンを持参していることが話題に上がると、許氏がそのヴァイオリンで演奏を披露し、続いて、李学長と澤学部長による台湾と日本の曲の演奏の交換が行われました。
最後に、同博物館の世界の貴重な楽器を始め、絵画、ロダン作品、武具・甲冑、自然史・化石といった広範な分野をカバーした膨大なコレクションを見学しました。石像の前では、同行した美術学部の林教授が、案内役の博物館職員に専門家としての意見を求められる場面も見られました。

台湾滞在最終日の7月1日は、まず国立台湾芸術教育館を訪問しました。
鄭乃文館長の挨拶後、華梵大学の李蕭錕副教授が紹介され、書のパフォーマンスが行われました。本学訪問者の氏名に着想を得て、即興で四字熟語を書くというもので、李副教授の求めに応じて、宮田学長も即興の書を交換しました。
最後に訪問した国立台湾師範大学では、張國恩学長と会談し、以前から教員の交流は行われていましたが、本年4月には正式に両校が協定校となったことを受けて、今後未来に向かって互いによい関係を築いていくことを確認しました。

今回の台湾滞在は短期間ではありましたが、これまでに築いてきた協定締結校との協力関係が強固なものであることを確認することができました。今後も、大学間等の交流を深め、「芸術文化」を共有することで、アジア地域のさらなる発展と連携の強化が図られることが期待されます。
By invitation from Taiwan Ministry of Education, President Ryohei Miyata visited Taiwan from June 28 – July 1, 2015, during which he met with officials of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, four partner universities, and other educational and cultural institutions.
On June 29, President Miyata had discussions with President Yung-Cheng Hsieh of National Taiwan University of Arts, President Chyi-Wen of Taipei National University of the Arts, and Minister Mitchell Hung of the Taiwanese Ministry of Culture. At the meetings held respectively, they looked back on the collaborative relationships between Geidai and the Taiwanese partner institutions that had developed over the years, and it was confirmed that they would continue to work closely to strengthen partnership through exchange of students and academic staff members, as well as collaborative exhibitions.
President Miyata also talked about Geidai’s 10-year plan for promoting further interactions with institutions around the world under the Japanese government’s “Super Global Universities” scheme, and his aspiration toward the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, for which he strives to disseminate to the world not only strengths of Japan but also attractiveness of the Asian region as a whole in collaboration with Asian partners.

On June 30, Prof. Kazuki Sawa, Dean of the Faculty of Music, joined President Miyata’s delegation to visit Chimei Museum in Tainan, which was made possible by the help of President Chao-Hsiu Lee of Tainan National University of the Arts.
Upon arrival at the museum, the delegation members were shown into a room with a large collection of rare and fine violins and other string instruments by world-famous artisans, such as Stradivari and Amati, where Prof. Sawa was offered an opportunity to play the violin of his choice.
Then the delegation met with Mr. Wen-Long Shi, the founder of the museum and Chimei Corporation, who talked about his philosophy behind the foundation of the museum. In the meeting, President Lee and Prof. Sawa exchanged warm greetings by playing by violin Taiwanese and Japanese music respectively.
Following the meeting was a tour of the museum, which exhibits its vast collection covering a wide range of subjects, from fine art and musical instruments to natural history, and arms and armor. Another member of the delegation, Prof. Takeshi Hayashi of the Faculty of Fine Arts, was asked for an expert opinion by the museum staff accompanying the group while observing objects displayed.

On July 1, the Geidai delegates visited the National Taiwan Arts Education Center. After greeting Dr. Nai-wen Cheng, the center’s director general, the delegate members were introduced to Prof. Kuenten Lee of Huafan University.
He delivered a live performance of calligraphy expressing the inspiration he received from the name of each Geidai member, to which President Miyata responded by writing his own calligraphy on site.
The stay in Taiwan concluded with a visit to National Taiwan Normal University, where President Kuo-en Chang and President Miyata reaffirmed their intention to further develop the relationship between the two universities in a future-oriented manner. The official partnership agreement was just signed in April 2015, after years of interactions between the two universities.

Although short, this trip proved that Geidai had established firm relations with partner institutions over the years. It is expected that further development and collaboration in the Asian region will be realized through interaction among universities and communication of art and culture.
