“Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Students” is the scholarship program offered by the Japanese government. Tokyo Geidai accepts the MEXT scholarship students as Research Students (non-regular students).

Those wishing to study at Tokyo Geidai as MEXT scholarship students must apply and pass the first selection conducted by the Japanese embassy/consulate general.

The first selection procedures (application, written exam, and interview) for the MEXT Scholarships are conducted through Japanese embassies and consulates in your country. A MEXT committee then designates successful candidates after consulting the relevant university.

Those who wish to apply, please get in touch with the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General in your country. Tokyo Geidai can NOT answer inquiries about the application form or the deadline for the application.

For those who have been selected as preliminary candidates, please refer to the Admission Information website for further application procedures.

Research students recommended by a Japanese embassy whose Japanese level is deemed insufficient spend 6 months studying the Japanese language, before taking an entrance examination and formally entering a graduate course.

If you wish to be enrolled as a regular degree-seeking student, you must take and pass the entrance examination.

The applicants should confirm their eligibility to apply regarding the required level of Japanese language proficiency listed on the application guidelines for the graduate school/department of their choice when considering applying for a regular course at the graduate school. Please note that your application isn’t accepted if you can’t meet the eligibility to apply.

Please check the university’s admissions website for details.
