【レポート】2024年度 書道ワークショップ[Report] Shodo: Japanese Calligraphy Workshop, 2024

2024年7月12日（金）に東京藝術大学の留学生を対象とする「書道ワークショップ」を開催しました。
講師は昨年度に引き続き芸術学科講師の柳田さやか先生に担当いただきました。
ワークショップの前半では書画の歴史に関して講義をしてもらい、中国から始まり世界に伝わった書道の成り立ちをお話しいただきました。また国によって書道の道具の使い方、考え方、手法の違いなどにも触れ、書道という文化の多様性について学びました。
次に楷書による筆の持ち方から書き方まで基本的な技法を学びながら、実際に漢字を書く実技演習を行いました。今年は「平和」という言葉を選び、見本を見ながら学びました。
書き終えたのち、参加学生にはそれぞれ感想を述べてもらいました。丁寧に書かれた文字や上下を反転させたユニークな文字まで、美術大学ならではの個性豊かな書道が見られました。

On Friday 12 July 2024, a Calligraphy Workshop was held for international students.
The lecturer was Prof Sayaka Yanagida, a lecturer at the Department of Aesthetics and Art History, continuing from last year.
In the first half of the workshop, she gave a lecture on the history of calligraphy and how calligraphy originated in China and was introduced to the rest of the world. The participants also learned about the diversity of the culture as calligraphy, touching on the differences in the use of tools, ideas and methods in different countries.
Next, the participants learned basic techniques for Kaisho how to hold a brush, and practised writing kanji characters. This year, we chose the word ‘平和=peace’ and learned it while watching a sample.
After finishing the writing, the students shared their impressions and feedback. We were able to see the unique calligraphy that only an art university can produce, from carefully written characters to unique characters with the top and bottom reversed.
