海外研修の成果
本プロジェクトでは、教員と学生がユニットを組み、インドネシア、バリ島で年一回行われるガルンガン・クニンガンという全島あげての壮大な祭礼に参加し、そこで繰り広げられる“芸術の原型“とも言うべき儀礼の数々を撮影録音し、「サンギャン/儀礼の力」という映像作品を作り上げました。
撮影した映像は現地の人々にラッシュ上映会を開催して見ていただき、様々な意見を聞きながら作品に生かしました。参加学生は異文化環境での共同制作という特別な機会を与えられ、各自、懸命に努力しながら、国際的なアートシーンで活躍できる実践力を養うと共に、現地の人々とコミュニケーションを重ねて、短期間の滞在制作という困難な課題をこなしました。こうした現場での実践は、今後、個々の個人制作にも直接的に反映すると確信します。
今後、映画作品のヴァージョンアップを行い、日本で完成版上映会を企画すると共に、国際的なフィルムコンペティションにも積極的に応募し、東京藝大エスノアートラボの認知度を高めていく予定です。
参加学生のコメント
・主観性と客観性を併せ持つアーティストの社会的役割を見直しながら、個人・共同作品の展開について考える大切な機会となった。
・はじめて現地の人と近い距離で真摯に滞在制作をしていく中で、アジア人が同じアジア圏の、特殊で魅力的な伝統儀礼に美術を通して興味を示すことが、ごく自然で素晴らしいことであると痛感することが出来ました。

Achievements
In this project, participating faculty and students formed a team to create a film work on Galungan dan Kuningan, a day of magnificent religious ceremonies on the island of Bali that are celebrated by the whole island once a year. The team took part in, shot and recorded a number of rites that can be called as “the artistic archetypes” and produced the film ” Sang Hyang / the power of rites.”
The unedited films from the ceremonies were shown to local people, and their opinions and feedbacks collected during the preview were used to improve the film. Appreciating this special opportunity of co-working under a different culture, the participating students were all making the best efforts, through which they developed practical skills to succeed in international art scenes and managed the difficult task of finishing a film in Bali within a short period of time, while keeping close communication with local people. It is certain that all these hands-on experiences will be directly reflected on their individual works to be created in the future.
The film will be further elaborated to be presented in Japan and also actively sent overseas to compete in international film festivals in expectation of increasing the recognition both in Japan and abroad of Tokyo University of the Arts Ethno-Art Lab.
