留学生見学旅行2017～箱根・伊豆長岡～International Student Trip to Hakone & Izu-Nagaoka 2017

平成29年7月6日から7日にかけて、11カ国からの留学生28名と教職員6名が、日本文化体験旅行に参加しました。今年度の旅行先は、箱根（神奈川）・伊豆長岡（静岡）方面でした。
初日はまず、神奈川県小田原市にある「鈴廣かまぼこの里」にて、かまぼことちくわの手作り体験をしました。職人の技を見学した後、かまぼこ包丁という特別な道具を使って、魚のすりみを板や棒に付けていきました。四苦八苦して作ったちくわはすぐにその場で焼いてもらい、出来立てをみんなで堪能しました。
次に訪れた「彫刻の森美術館」は、箱根の山々に囲まれた7万㎡の広大な敷地に建つオープンエアーミュージアムで、近・現代を代表する約120点の彫刻作品を鑑賞しました。開放感あふれる空間で、思い思いに芸術とふれあうひと時となりました。
宿泊先の「伊豆長岡いづみ荘」では、温泉や豪華な和食を楽しみました。懇親会では、留学生たちがそれぞれ日本で一番好きな食べ物や場所を紹介したり、各国の言葉で歌をうたったりして、楽しい交流の時間を持ちました。
2日目は、箱根神社を訪れたあと、成川美術館に向かいました。箱根の山と芦ノ湖が織り成す美しい初夏の風景に、皆が息を呑みました。留学生の多くが、この景色を写真に収めようと熱心にカメラを向けていました。
午後は、「元箱根旧街道杉並木」を散策し、昼食をはさんだあと、最後に「箱根関所」を見学しました。留学生たちは、日本独自の建築技術などを、興味深そうにじっくりと観察していました。
2日とも天候に恵まれ、雨に降られることもなく、楽しく旅行をすることができました。1泊２日の短い時間ではありましたが、異なる専攻やキャンパス、そして国・地域の留学生が、今回の旅行を通して親交を深め、今後も続く新しい友人関係を築けたことを嬉しく思います。また、今回の見学旅行のために多大なご協力・ご支援をいただきましたみなさまに深く感謝いたします。
From July 6 to 7, 2017, a group of 6 staff members and 28 international students from 11 countries went on an excursion to Hakone and Izu-Nagaoka, to experience Japanese culture.
The group first went to Suzuhiro Kamaboko no Sato (a fish-paste factory) in Odawara, Kanagawa, and had experience of making kamaboko and chikuwa. Following a demonstration by a professional, the students tried to mold ground fish meat by using a special knife, a stick and a wood board. Their handmade Chikuwa were grilled in front of them so that they could enjoy their original pieces fresh and hot.
Next the group visited the Hakone Open-Air Museum where 120 works of modern and contemporary sculptures are displayed in an extensive site of 70,000 square meters surrounded by the beautiful skies and mountains of Hakone. Students spent time in their own ways, harmonizing with the artistic atmosphere.
The group enjoyed natural hot springs and big Washoku (Japanese cuisine) dinner at Izu-Nagaoka Izumi Inn, the accommodation for the night. After dinner, students had good fellowship together, sharing their favorite Japanese food items and places and performing songs from their home countries.
In the morning of the second day, the group had an opportunity to visit Hakone Shrine and then Narukawa Art Museum. The scenery of Ashinoko Lake with rich nature in early summer was breathtaking and many students were aiming their cameras to capture the beauty.
In the afternoon, the group walked through a cedars avenue, which is part of the historic site, Moto-Hakone Kyu-kaido (old highway), designated by the Japanese government, and after the lunch was the last destination, Hakone Sekisho (a checkpoint; barrier station). Students curiously observed Japanese traditional architectural techniques.
Although it was only a short, two-day trip, the excursion seemed to have served as an opportunity for the students of different specialties, campuses and origins to get familiarized with each other, which would hopefully lead to a continuing friendship.
