2018年度前期 留学生オリエンテーション＆学長主催 留学生懇談会2018 Spring Semester: International Student Orientation & Welcome Party

2018年4月10日(火)、上野キャンパスにおいて、この春新しく本学に入学した留学生を対象としたオリエンテーションを行いました。また、その後は大学会館にて、学長主催の留学生懇談会を開催し、新・留学生を歓迎とするとともに、在学中の留学生及び国際交流に興味のある日本人学生・教職員との交流を深めました。
オリエンテーションでは、参加した約80名の留学生に対し、岡本副学長（国際・ダイバーシティ推進担当）をはじめとするグローバルサポートセンタースタッフ及び教職員一同から歓迎の言葉が述べられました。
井谷善惠特任教授による新入生向けプレゼンテーションでは、本学の前身である東京美術学校・東京音楽学校の歴史からはじまり、本学が実施している季節ごとの留学生イベントなど、キャンパスライフに関する様々な情報が紹介されました。石田恵理子特任講師からは、日本語を勉強する留学生向けの日本語授業について説明がありました。
また、先輩留学生を代表して、美術研究科で芸術学を学ぶ博士課程4年生の李趙雪さんから歓迎の挨拶が述べられました。日本語・英語・中国語を交えて行われたスピーチに、皆熱心に耳を傾けていました。
最後に、国際企画課職員から日本での学生生活で必要な様々な手続きや窓口についての説明が行われ、オリエンテーションが終了しました。
続いて、大学会館にて学長主催の留学生懇親会が催され、はじめに、澤和樹学長が暖かい言葉で留学生一同を歓迎しました。 そして、岡本美津子グローバルサポートセンター長による乾杯の発声を合図に歓談がスタートし、新・留学生をはじめとする参加者たちは、会場に準備された数々の豪華な料理や学長からいただいた飲み物等とともにそれぞれ交流の時間を楽しみました。
会の中盤には、ロシア出身で音楽研究科邦楽専攻の修士2年生パヴェル・イオさんが在校生代表として尺八の演奏を披露し、その独特の美しい音色で会場の人々を魅了しました。特に、新・留学生にとっては、まだあまり馴染みのない日本の伝統楽器を間近で味わえる機会ということで、耳と目を使って皆熱心に演奏を鑑賞している様子が伺えました。
また、会場に駆けつけてくださった各部局の先生方からも、これから新しく始まる学生生活に向けて激励の言葉をいただきました。
会の終盤には、モロッコ出身で美術研究科建築専攻の博士1年生ガリ・ボウアヤドさんが新留学生へ向けて歓迎のスピーチを行いました。ガリさんは、昨年一年間、研究生として本学で過ごした経験に触れつつ、藝大の多様な学生たちの中でいかに切磋琢磨していくべきか等のアドバイスをリアルな視点から述べ、会場には拍手が巻き起こりました。
最後に石田特任講師から直近の留学生イベントの案内があり、井谷特任教授の閉会の言葉をもって、和気あいあいとした和やかな雰囲気の中、懇談会は幕を閉じました。懇談会には、留学生・日本人学生および教職員を合わせ160名以上の参加があり、新学期を祝うにふさわしい盛大な会となりました。
これからも本学は、日々の交流や様々なイベントを充実し、留学生一人ひとりに「藝大にきて良かった」と心から思ってもらえるよう、教職員が一丸となって学生生活をサポートしていきます。
On Thursday, April 10, 2018, an orientation and a Welcome Party was held at the Ueno Campus for international students who started their studies at Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geidai) from the 2018 spring semester.
Approximately 80 international students were welcomed with remarks by members of the Global Support Center (GSC) and the faculty members represented by Professor Mitsuko Okamoto who is the director of GSC and the Vice President in charge of international affairs and campus diversity.
And in the following presentation for new international students, Dr. Yoshie Itani (Project Professor of GSC) introduced history of Tokyo Arts School and Tokyo Music School, both of which is the predecessor of Tokyo Geidai and various seasonal events for international students along with information on their campus life. And Ms. Eriko Ishida (Project Lecturer of GSC) gave explanations on the Japanese Language Classes designed for international students learning Japanese.
Next, on behalf of the current international students, Ms. LI Zhaoxue, a 4th year Doctoral student of Graduate School of Fine Arts, Aesthetics and Art History Department, gave a welcome speech to new international students. They were hanging on her speech given in three different languages, Japanese, English and Chinese.
The orientation concludes with a lecture, given by a member of the staff of the International Affairs Office, on various procedures required for their campus life at Tokyo Geidai.
Following the orientation, a Welcome Party for international students, hosted by the president took place at the University Hall. The party began with a warming welcome speech by Kazuki Sawa, president of Tokyo Geidai, and Prof. Okamoto gave a toast. All who attended enjoyed the friendly conversations over the tables full of nice food offered by President.
Mr. Pavel Io from Russia, a 2nd year Master’s student of Traditional Japanese Music Department, as a representative of the current students, gave a Shakuhachi performance that captivated the heart of audience there with the unique and beautiful sound produced by the instrument. It has become a very special experience especially for those who were new to Japan as they were introduced to a glimpse of the new culture and tradition.
After faculty members who attended the party also gave words of encouragement to the new comers, Mr. Ghali Bouayad from Morocco, a 1st year Doctoral student of Architecture Department, gave a speech to share his experience at Tokyo Geidai. He talked about how to improve yourself by learning from other diverse students body of the university convincingly, and received a round of applause from the audience.
The party ended with a guidance of up-coming events for international students by Ms. Ishida and a closing speech by Dr. Itani in a friendly and warm atmosphere. The party was attended by more than 160 people including both international and Japanese students as well as the faculty and administrative members.
All of us will continue to work together to support international students through day-to day communications as well as various events, so that they can enjoy their student life full at Tokyo Geidai.
