2019年度海外留学説明会（前期）2019 Spring Semester Study Abroad Information Session

2019年7月、上野キャンパスにおいて２回に渡り、海外留学説明会を開催しました。
最初の説明会は、文部科学省の「日本人の海外留学促進事業」と連携して9日（火）に開催し、一般社団法人海外留学協議会（JAOS）の横山匡理事を講師としてお招きして、海外の大学院進学のお話を中心に、留学の意義や留学実現に向けた準備について、具体例を交えながらご説明いただきました。また、本学美術学部・音楽学部の交換留学制度について各教務係から説明を行った後、実際に交換留学制度を利用してフランスのパリ国立高等美術学校に留学し帰国した派遣学生の江原梨沙子さん（大学院美術研究科）が体験談を発表しました。
約50名の参加学生は、熱心にメモを取るなどして、各説明者の話に耳を傾けていました。この説明会で留学のヒントやインスピレーションを得て、これから各自留学計画の検討が進んでいくことと思います。

さらに23日（火）に、危機管理・安全対策セミナーを実施しました。
このセミナーには、外務省領事局海外邦人安全課の山本孝主査を講師としてお招きし、海外生活で想定されるリスク、それを回避するための安全対策・心構えについて、実際の事例紹介を交えながらご説明いただいたほか、外務省のサポート体制と緊急時の対応についてアドバイスをいただきました。続いて、「学研災」の付帯海学保険の取扱代理店であるイーコールズ株式会社の佐藤幸則氏にもご登壇いただき、付帯海学保険の内容や保険適用の事例についてお話しいただきました。最後に、美術学部の交換留学制度を利用してイスラエルに一年間留学した派遣学生の灰原千晶さんが、留学中に遭遇したトラブルとその対処方法、その経験を踏まえた安全対策について発表を行いました。
これから海外に留学する学生がそれぞれの目的地で充実した留学生活を送るために、常に「自分の身は自分で守る」ことを意識し、十分な情報収集と安全対策を徹底するように心がける契機になったことを期待しています。
グローバルサポートセンターや国際企画課では、海外留学を目指す学生の留学準備を支援するため、今後もこうした説明会を開催していきます。

In July 2019, the International Affairs Division held two information sessions on study abroad.
The first session was held on July 9 in collaboration with Japan Association of Overseas Studies (JAOS), an organization that works with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to promote study abroad by Japanese students. As a guest speaker, JAOS Councilor Mr. Tadashi Yokoyama gave a keynote presentation, where he talked about the meaning of study abroad and its preparation process, while providing hands-on information on typical study abroad cases, focusing on graduate schools.
Following the presentation by Mr. Yokoyama, staff members representing the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Music explained their respective student exchange programs. Then, a Fine Arts graduate student, Ms. Risako Ehara, who studied in France on an exchange program with Beaux-Arts de Paris, shared her study broad experience as an exchange student.
About 50 students who attended the session were listening attentively to each speaker, eagerly taking notes. It is hoped that participants got tips and inspirations from this information session and utilize the opportunity to develop their own study abroad plans.

Project Prof. Itani concludes the session by commenting learning different points of view and values is one of the advantages of studying abroad.
The second session was held on July 23 as a seminar focusing on safety measures and risk management during study abroad.
For this seminar, Mr. Takashi Yamamoto, an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Consular Affairs Bureau, was invited to talk about potential risks as well as approaches to staying safe while overseas, referring to incidents that actually happened to Japanese citizens abroad. He then clarified what should be done in case of an emergency and what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can do to provide support in such circumstances.
The seminar was joined by another guest speaker, Mr. Yukinori Sato from E-calls Inc., an agency handling the insurance program called “Gakkensai” – Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research – to provide details of the insurance and its coverage policies.
The seminar also featured a presentation by a Fine Arts graduate student, Ms. Chiaki Haibara. Looking back on her experience as an exchange student in Israel, she discussed how she handled her situation when she ran into trouble.
Students should always remember that they are responsible for protecting themselves. It is important to collect information and prepare as much as possible to ensure safety and health so that they can have a successful and productive study abroad experience.
The International Affairs Division and the Global Support Center will continue to provide support for those who aim to study abroad through information sessions like these.
