情報収集や人との繋がり、そして自身の研究や作品についてより多くの人へ伝えるために英語は強力なツールです。この実践講座では、英語での基礎的なコミュニケーションスキルを習得することを目標としています。
※2023年度〜講義は対面／Zoomを使用したオンラインのハイブリッド形式で開講します。

東京藝術大学グローバルサポートセンター特任講師。コロンビア大学院で都市計画を学び、東京大学大学院工学系研究科都市工学専攻で博士号を取得。文化活動が地域活性化に与える影響を評価する研究論文を執筆。現在はオンラインコミュニティーにおける学習過程について研究を行なっている。

ロンドンのゴールドスミス大学とリーズ大学大学院で芸術および芸術史を専攻し、パフォーマンスや儀式、神話・化学に関する問題をキュレーション、ライブイベント、ビデオ、テクスト、インスタレーションなどの企画を通じて追求している。

1. 英語のプレゼンテーションとポートフォリオ制作（全学対象）

自分の作品や研究を英語で効果的に伝える技法や手段を学べる授業です。主にフォーマル／インフォーマルな自己紹介の仕方や、CV（履歴書）、アーティスト・ステートメント、キャプション、PDFポートフォリオの作り方を学びます。受講生は課題の提出や個人指導を通して、自身の作品や研究のプレゼンテーション素材を作成し、実際に英語でのプレゼンテーションにチャレンジできます。（基本的に美術のフォーマットを使用します。）

2. 英語のアカデミックライティング（全学対象）

芸術大学ならではのアカデミック・ライティングの手法を中心に、国際的に多用されている、英語の論文のスタイルや研究方法を学びます。主に英語での論文発表を目指す学生を対象としていますが、研究方法などは言語を問わず学術活動全般において活用できる内容です。

Short Series｜English for Artists and Researchers

English is a powerful tool for building networks, information gathering, and bringing your work and research to a wider audience. These short series will help students gain practical communication skills in keeping with each student’s goals and language abilities. Ann Yamamoto（Project Lecturer, Global Support Center）

Ann Tomoko Yamamoto is a project lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts, Global Support Center. She has an M.A. in urban planning from Columbia University and a PhD from the University of Tokyo in urban engineering. Her thesis research was assessing the impact of cultural events on local development, and she currently is researching learning processes in online communities.

Catherine Harrington（Project Assistant Professor, Global Support Center）

Trained as an artist and art historian at Goldsmiths College and Leeds University in the UK, Catherine Harrington now lives and works in Japan, and teaches at Tokyo University of the Arts. Harrington’s practice interrogates issues of ritual, performance and myth-science through live events, installation, video, text, and curation.

1. English Presentation Course for Artists (for all Geidai students)

This course focuses on skills and tools needed to introduce your artwork in English. Topics covered include self-presentations (formal and informal), artist CVs, artist statements, captions, and PDF portfolio. This course will enable you to develop your own materials through assignments and one-on-one tutorials, and you will also have the opportunity to present your work in English.

2. Writing in English for Artists and Researchers (for all Geidai students)

Learn research methods and dissertation styles commonly found in international settings with special emphasis on approaches to academic writing at arts universities. This course is mainly geared for students who aim to present their research in English, but it will also cover research methods and other topics that are useful for academic research irrespective of language. The course will provide opportunities to write about, present, and discuss your research.
