台湾台中出身の蔡世柔（サイシジュウ）です。今は音楽学部修士課程ピアノ科2年に在籍しております。

My name is Tsai Shih Jou and I am in the second year of Graduate program in piano.

Why did you choose Geidai as your study abroad destination?
藝大に留学したきっかけ

子供の頃から祖父の側で日本政府統治時代の話を聞いていて、だんだんと日本のことを興味深く感じるようになりました。大学の時いつか海外に留学する事を考え、多くの国の大学と音楽の環境を比較していました。日本と台湾の距離は近く、コンクールや演奏会も数多くあり、またクラシック音楽のこともすごく大事にしていると感じました。 大学卒業の時台湾の音楽大学に留学しに来ていた日本人の先輩から東京藝術大学の外国人留学生入試の件を教えていただいたことをきっかけとして、試験を受けて合格しました。

As I had heard about “Taiwan under Japanese Rule” from my grandfather, I gradually got interested in Japan. When I was an undergraduate student, I was thinking to study abroad, and compared music environments in foreign countries. Japan and Taiwan are in close distance. There are many music competitions as well as concerts. I thought classic music was also valued in Japan. When I graduated from university, a Japanese student who was studying at a conservatory in Taiwan told me about the entrance exams for international students at Geidai. Therefore I took the exam and passed it.

What did you do to prepare yourself for studying abroad in Japan?
留学前に準備したこと

日本語の勉強とか曲の準備とか、これだけかもしれません。

I can only think of studying Japanese and performance practice.

What do you study at Geidai?
藝大で学んでいること

芸大のみんな凄く優秀なので、授業だけじゃなくて他の生徒達と交流していた時も色々勉強になりました。

Geidai students are very good. In addition to classes, I learnt a lot from interacting with other students.

What do you like about Geidai?
藝大に来てよかったこと

自分の足りなさの部分を感じられました。

I found I am not yet good enough. I need to learn more.

What are the things that impressed you or surprised you in Japan?
日本に来て印象に残っていること・意外だったこと

多分電車がいつでも混雑していることにちょっと驚きました。

I was a bit surprised by trains always crowded.

What are your future goals?
将来の目標

これからも音楽の素晴らしさをできる限りみんなに伝えたいです。

I want to tell everyone how great music is, as much as I can.
