Tokyo Geidai hosts various events for international students. These events builds on the university’s long-standing relationships with artists and organizations to provide invaluable opportunities to experience Japanese art and culture. Held on an irregular basis. Details will be posted on the board or notified by e-mail.

JEES Designated scenic spot of Tokyo「The former KusuoYasuda House and Garden」Study Tour Recruitment of participants  2023/10/25 NEW
With the cooperation of the Japan National Trust (JNT), the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES) is holding a study tour for international students at the former KusuoYasuda House and Garden, a designated scenic spot of Tokyo owned by the Japan National Trust (JNT).
In order to pass on valuable cultural properties to future generations, you will learn about JNT’s conservation and utilization efforts as an example of cultural property protection by the private sector. Many of the conservation activities are run by local volunteers, and international students experience conservation activities such as raking leaves in the garden.

“Friday cafe-金曜日のカフェ-” is an interaction event focusing on facilitating communication between international students and Japanese students. With hope that the “Friday cafe -金曜日のカフェ- will help international students and Japanese students meet each other more and make friends cross-culturally at Tokyo Geidai

All language levels are welcome! One of the purposes of this event is to help students meet and mingle across different nationalities, cultures, backgrounds, and university majors.
You can come and go anytime during the event.

Do come along to Friday cafe to practice your language skills and make new friends!
If you want to meet and mingle with other students from various backgrounds and broaden your perspectives but are unsure where to start due to your language abilities,Friday cafe is an easy way to start a new journey of friendship and international connection!

Over lunch and a cup of coffee and other various teas, part of the event will involve a ”1-1 speed-language exchange” in which pairs of Japanese students and international students can take part in a language exchange which will be mainly in English and in Japanese (but will be open to other languages too!),
and can also enjoy casual, free conversation on topics including hobbies, food, free time, and travel.

Even if your Japanese or English language level is “Beginner’s level”, we very much welcome you to Friday cafe -金曜日のカフェ-.
We are looking forward to meeting you at the event and joining you in this great opportunity to meet and mingle with Japanese students and make international friends!

Kyushu U. Global Peace Symposium 2023: The Voice of a Nagasaki A-Bombing Survivor 2023/7/14

Kyushu University organizes an international symposium.
The theme of the symposium is ”The Voice of a Nagasaki A-Bombing Survivor”

Nearly 78 years have passed since the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, and fewer and fewer people know the actual experiences of the atomic bombing.
The Kyushu University International Student Center, in cooperation with the Nagasaki Prefectural Government, will hold an online international symposium by inviting a survivor of the Nagasaki atomic bombing as a lecturer.
This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from an A-bomb survivor.
Everyone is welcome to join us for this event to listen to the A-bomb survivor’s lecture and rethink the preciousness of peace.

Rakugo – “Japanese traditional one-man comical theater” 2/28

Rakugo is a traditional one-man theatre show with a history of roughly 300 years. This is a rakugo show by the professional Swedish rakugo performer (rakugoka) Sanyutei Kouseinen, one of only three non-Japanese professionals worldwide. Rakugo is generally performed in Japanese, but this show will be in English.

All students of the school are invited to watch the show for free. Take the chance to experience the traditional comedy of Japan in English!
