Sogakudou Concert Hall

The former Sogakudo Hall was moved from the campus and placed in Ueno Park in 1984. Now, a new Sogakudo Concert Hall (with a seating capacity of 1,100) has been constructed on the Music Faculty campus, and was first opened to the public in 1998.
While the Sogakudo Concert Hall functions as a venue of education and research at the University, there are also many outside programs held in the Concert Hall. These include: projects planned by the Center for Musical Performance, regular concerts (opera, orchestra, wind ensemble, traditional Japanese music, etc.), concerts by music majors (mainly senior, students), graduation concerts, regular concerts of the Music High School attached to the University, etc.
It is also used for concerts when professors and students from foreign sister schools visit the University and thus it plays a role in cultural exchange.
